Stedman Pearson

Stedman shot to fame in the Eighties when his brother and sisters formed the British pop and R&B group Five Star. Known for their glamorous image, distinctive matching costumes and choreographed dance routines, Five Star achieved a string of chart-topping hits including System Addict, Can't Wait Another Minute and Rain Or Shine.
Ìý
After the group shrank to a trio in 2001, Stedman joined his sisters Denise and Lorraine in performing as Five Star at live gigs until 2006.
Stedman is now working on a new R&B solo album which will be released soon.

His experience of hairdressers in the past has not been positive, as they always seem to cut his hair too short, but after wearing the same simple style for many years, Stedman is now ready for a change, and is looking forward to getting Lee's input into a make-over.

His idea of perfect hair is Halle Berry's hair – "short and wicked" – and he'd even consider going short himself.
Stedman is looking forward to working with Steve, having crossed paths with him a few times during the Eighties.

Shana Swash

Shana is best known for playing the role of teenage tearaway Demi Miller in EastEnders. She joined the cast in 2004, acting alongside her real-life brother Joe Swash.

Shana featured in a number of high-profile storylines including a teen pregnancy, running away from home and becoming addicted to drugs.
She left the soap two years ago and has recently begun a beauty therapy course.
Ìý
For Shana, the idea for being a trainee is "wicked - I've never worked in a salon before so this is like work experience. I've never had a normal job - it will be nice to experience normality".

The ex-EastEnder sees herself as very competitive: "Watch out for me in there 'cos I'll have my eye on everyone - tell them to look out 'cos the winner's coming through!"

Lucinda Ledgerwood

Born in Singapore, 32-year-old Lucinda began her career in risk management before undertaking various roles involving IT in the financial sector.

This year, the beret-wearing beauty battled it out against 15 other contenders in the race to become Sir Alan Sugar's Apprentice 2008.
Ìý
Hats off to Lucinda as she became the most successful candidate in the history of the show by being on the winning team in eight out of 10 tasks. Unfortunately, she was fired by Sir Alan, who said she was "too zany" to stay.

Lucinda now lives in Edinburgh. She is a keen aromatherapist, harpist and scuba diver. Since The Apprentice, Lucinda has been very busy presenting on Â鶹ԼÅÄ TV, working with The Prince's Trust, doing consultancy work for small businesses, lecturing and developing a range of aromatherapy products.

Lucinda describes her current hair do as "oh dear" and had never even used a hairdryer until she appeared in The Apprentice!
She thinks she'll bring "enthusiasm, creativity and a caring side" to the academy. She admits she's not good at taking orders – "I want to be giving them!"

Jessica Jane Clements

Jessica and her team of 'hustlers' are always on the side of the unsuspecting consumer in Â鶹ԼÅÄ Three's The Real Hustle. The series exposes the scammers who employ ever more sophisticated ways to con people out of their hard-earned cash. Her character in the show is Sue Windle.

Although she is not exactly keen on carrying out a "back, sack and crack", she says that "nothing grosses me out – if someone wants it doing, I'll do it, especially if they're getting sponsored for it."

Asked if she has had any hair disasters, Jessica can reel off quite a few, most notably getting it braided in tribute to the singer Brandy: "it cost my mum £80 and I took them out after just two days 'cos it looked awful – but when they came out the whole thing was massive."

Samuel 'Zammo' Maguire was one of Grange Hill's most famous characters. The cheeky chappie never took school life too seriously but often had a sensitive side. He would stick up for Roland when he was getting a hard time.

But the later years would be more difficult for Zammo. The spectre of Bronson and the Jackie-Banksie love triangle became too much to bear and Zammo descended into heroin addiction. The storyline became the centre of the show's 'Just Say No' campaign.

Lee hoped to make it as a boxer, but a car crash at 21 cut short his career. He now runs his own locksmith business but still does occasional TV work. He has appeared on Channel 4's Bring Back Grange Hill programme.

He isn't too bothered about pedicures or any of the treatments, although he's not looking forward to waxing someone's naughty bits. But basically he's game for anything… except cutting women's hair. "I'd rather cut blokes' hair. I'd hate to ruin a girl's hair, and make them upset," he says. "My wife would never let me touch her hair, and I'd be too scared to. I'm genuinely terrified of cutting women's hair."

Chris Perry-Metcalf played the much-loved Togger Johnson in Grange Hill for six years until the series ended recently.

Chris has a huge amount of experience presenting, having appeared on nearly every Saturday morning television programme as a guest host.

Liverpool lad Chris, who's 19, is a self-confessed hair obsessive who gets his hair cut every 10 days!
He did once try styling his own locks. "I had curtains when I was 12," he says. "One of my friends had bleached his hair and I liked it so I copied it and did the front on my own with tinfoil and everything. It was awful! No one has had a worse haircut."

He is really nervous of doing waxing though because of a bad experience he once had. "I was on my way to a Liverpool game with Chris Fountain and we went into my mum's salon and a therapist said I had bushy eyebrows. I let her wax me and it was the most painful thing in the world! And I had to go to the football with red puffy eyes – Chris was pointing it out to everyone."
