Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Sport and Aardman animate EuroΜύ2008 title sequence
The title sequence for the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ's coverage of this year's European
Championship is an animation that has been produced in
collaboration with Aardman Animations.
Μύ
The sequence will include animated versions of international
football players from the English Premier League – Cristiano
Ronaldo, Michael Ballack, William Gallas and Fernando Torres,
with former Rangers midfielder, Gennaro Gattuso, and legendary
player and manager Marco van Basten.
Μύ
The sequence is based in an Austrian opera house and the stage is
set for five of the most talented players due to appear in this
year's Championship.
Μύ
They will feature alongside Van Basten, an
iconic former player with a rich Euro history and scorer of one
of the most iconic goals from the 1988 tournament.
Μύ
The eight
cities, in Austria and Switzerland, in which the games will be
played, feature as backdrops to the players making their
appearance on stage.
Μύ
Current title holders, Greece, are
celebrated at the beginning of the sequence.
Μύ
Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Executive Producer, Phil Bigwood, said: "We wanted the title
sequence to reflect just how much footballing talent viewers can
expect to see at the Euros. There will nearly 50 players at this
year's tournament who play regularly in the Premier League.
Μύ
"So
even without any Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Nation teams involved viewers will get to
watch footballers they recognise – meaning a lot of familiar
faces to make the games more appealing."
Μύ
Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Sport also announced the choice of music for the opening
title – Mozart's Symphony No.41. It will be reworked and
performed by UK multi-faceted musical outfit, Unkle.
