Richard Wyatt to guest present Radio Bristol breakfast show

One of the West of England's most recognisable and popular TV personalities is to guest present Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Bristol's breakfast show from Monday 24 September 2007 for a month.

Best known for his many years as HTV's news anchor, Richard Wyatt is returning to the radio station he first worked at in the early Seventies.

Richard says: "Well, what can I say. Radio Bristol's early years were my formative years in the business too. It's where I started my broadcasting career so it feels a bit like coming home.

"I can't wait to get started and see how the station has changed since I was last there!"

A television presenter, producer and journalist with over 35 years on-screen experience, Richard Wyatt has worked on a vast range of programming from interviewing celebrities at the Oscars to helping deliver Live Aid relief in Ethiopia... and he's survived being knocked unconscious by a low-flying aircraft!

He is a trained journalist with a BA Hons in Humanities and has just completed an MA at The University of Bristol in Art History.

His career began in 1965 with a five-year apprenticeship at the Weston Mercury newspaper gaining the National Council Training of Journalists Proficiency Certificate.

In the early Seventies he joined Radio Bristol, then moved to Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Brighton where he had his own shows. He returned to Radio Bristol as the chief news freelance in 1971.

In 1972 he joined HTV as the youngest-ever reporter before moving on to co-present the nightly news. During his career at HTV he has presented and produced every sort of programme from news to light entertainment.

Turning freelance, in 2002, he has fronted networked history shows and produced interactive cd-roms for overseas property companies.

He took a year off in 2005 to do an MA in Art History and now specialises in museums and art galleries. He is going for a hat-trick of qualifications and has started on a PhD at the University of Bristol, which involves the "visualisation of memory", and he still finds time to compere food and gardening shows across the West.
