Castaway returns seven years on

Jason - castaway

Name: Jason

Μύ

Age: 37

Μύ

From: Kent

Μύ

Occupation: Currently unemployed

Μύ

Relationship status: In a relationship

Μύ

Star sign: Leo

Μύ

Motto: "Don't take life for granted but live it to the full."

Μύ

Why Castaway: "I'd like to gain a sense of self, a deeper respect for life and learn how to cope with the bare essentials. I'd also like to make some lifelong friends."

Μύ

Currently unemployed and a recovering drug and alcohol addict, Jason has been clean for 18 months. Originating from London, he now lives in Kent and is hoping to become an addiction counsellor when he returns from being cast away.

Μύ

Jason describes himself as happy, outgoing and humorous, a team player who can take the lead if necessary. A qualified carpenter and joiner, he admits that he could build shelter if needed, which could stand him in good stead with the other castaways.

Μύ

A devoted father, Jason has a seven-year-old son whom he describes as one of his biggest personal achievements. He admits that staying clean has been a tough challenge but that his ambition in life is to be a good role model for his son.

Μύ

Jason is looking forward to going back to basics and coping with island life, and says that he is more than willing to step outside of his comfort zone. He has an appreciation of the outdoors, listing archery, potholing, rock climbing and abseiling among his hobbies, as well as being an accomplished cook.

Μύ

Honesty is important to Jason and he admits that he finds it hard to respect people who fib or who feel like they have too much to prove. He also lists one of his dislikes as not being taken seriously but does confess, however, that "he likes to take the mickey out of people" and sometimes they don't know if he is being serious or not.

Μύ

As much as Jason is keen to throw himself into island life, he does confess that he will struggle to live without his hair clippers, razor and food! He says that he can be quite greedy where food is concerned and lists the shortage of it as one of his biggest fears.

Μύ

Did you know? Jason is scared of creepy-crawlies, especially spiders.
