Comedy

Gavin And Stacey

Ìý

Gavin And Stacey is a brand-new comedy series about young love, two nations coming together and endless Welsh omelettes, written by and starring Ruth Jones (Little Britain, Nighty Night, Fat Friends) and James Corden (The History Boys, Fat Friends).

Ìý

Stacey is from Barry, in Cardiff, and Gavin is from Essex. But the difference in backgrounds and culture doesn't hinder their romance, which flourishes when they finally meet for the first time after hitting it off during numerous flirtatious work calls.

Ìý

Stacey's guardian-uncle, Bryn, has pledged to look out for his niece – when not obsessing over his faulty satellite navigation system – whilst Gavin is doted on by his sometimes emotionally volatile mother, Pam, who only wants the best for her "little prince".

Ìý

On the occasionally rocky route to Gavin and Stacey's wedding, the two very different sets of families and friends must learn to get along together. The couple's best friends, the forthright Nessa and best man Smithy, get along very, very well but, unfortunately, only when they're plastered.

Ìý

Gavin is played by Mathew Horne (Catherine Tate, Teachers), Stacey by Joanna Page (Gideon's Daughter, Love Actually), Bryn by Rob Brydon, Pam by Alison Steadman, Nessa by Ruth Jones and Smithy by James Corden.

Rush Hour

Ìý

Rush Hour is a brand-new comedy sketch show focusing on the all-too-familiar, annoying grind of being stuck in a traffic jam.

Ìý

Set during the daily scrum, where everyone seems to want to get to where no one really wants to go, Rush Hour dips into the lives of the disturbed drivers and peculiar passengers as they argue, flirt and bicker their way through their journeys.

Ìý

The cast includes David Armand, Naomi Bentley, Frankie Boyle, Adam Buxton, Kerry Godliman, Miranda Hart, Sanjeev Kholi, Marek Larwood, Bruce McKinnon, Lorna Watson and Katy Wix.

Thieves Like Us

Thieves Like Us

Ìý

Welcome to a comedy underworld where dishonesty is the best policy and petty crime pays – but only just enough to cover the rent and buy a pint.

Ìý

Bex and Ollie are a couple of small-time crooks making their living by lifting and shifting stuff from warehouses, shops and offices – pretty much anywhere they can.

Ìý

They're not big-time bank robbers but, instead, prefer low-risk raids from companies big enough to survive the loss of a few wide-screen TVs. The not-so-dynamic duo are aim-low, live-low crooks with a conscience, and that suits them just fine.

Ìý

Away from the various schemes, scams and bungled burglaries that constitute their "day jobs", Bex and Ollie seek some form of domestic bliss with their long-suffering girlfriends, Mel and Belinda, two girls who understand the true meaning of Tammy Wynette's Stand By Your Man.

Ìý

Bex is played by Tom Brooke, Ollie by Fraser Ayres, Mel by Jessica Harris and Belinda by Chereen Buckley.

Ìý

Thieves Like Us is written by Danny King and based on his acclaimed novel, The Burglar Diaries.

Touch Me, I'm Karen Taylor

Ìý

Bafta award-winning comedienne Karen Taylor writes and stars in a brand-new series featuring a mix of sketches, stand-up, monologues and running jokes. Viewers can expect a fresh and saucy outlook inspired by Karen's single life, including her seemingly never-ending search for a decent man.

Ìý

Karen is probably best known for writing and starring in two series of the Bafta-winning and Golden Rose nominated The Sketch Show, which also introduced Lee Mack to a prime-time audience.

Ìý

She also co-wrote and starred in Â鶹ԼÅÄ Three's one-off comedy, May Contain Nuts, and has been a regular face on TV shows including Law Of The Playground and FAQ U (both Channel 4). She also starred alongside Steve Coogan on his hugely successful live DVD.

Rob Brydon's Annually Retentive

Rob Brydon's Annually Retentive

Ìý

Rob Brydon's terrifyingly plausible, genuinely ground-breaking and funny Annually Retentive returns for a second veil-raising series on Â鶹ԼÅÄ Three.

Ìý

The first series took viewers behind the scenes of Rob's generic, tired and wholly unoriginal comedy panel show, in which he shared all manner of "spontaneous" comedy moments with team captains Dave Gorman and Jane Moore.

Ìý

Celebrity guests included David Walliams, Sir Elton John, Jonathan Ross, Russell Brand, David Mitchell, Robert Webb, Alistair McGowan, Ronni Ancona, Marcus Brigstocke, Alexei Sayle and Omid Djalili.

Ìý

Throughout this new series, viewers will see how Rob deals with a new producer; watch as he tries to become "The Face of Wales"; follow his experiments in hair transplantation; meet his bizarre and embarrassing family; share in his health scare; and cringe at his ongoing efforts to woo beautiful celebrity booker Sara (Sharon Horgan) – all against a background of bitching, back-biting and gossiping.

Smalltime

Smalltime

Ìý

Smalltime opens the door of a low-security prison visiting room for a comedic peek into the lives of a group of banged-up petty crooks and the family, friends and fiends who visit them weekly.

Ìý

Under the watchful eye of the under-valued, officious prison visiting officers, the prisoners struggle to maintain marriages, rebuild relationships and catch up on the lives on the outside of their loved ones and their loathed ones.

Ìý

Wannabe hard man Clint likes to refer to himself as "frisbee", because he always returns to prison but, as his somewhat smarter wife points out, it should actually be "boomerang".

Ìý

Michael, meanwhile, refuses to turn grass to aid his appeal, because he's rather attached to his kneecaps, so whilst incarcerated he endures card games with his cheating Dad and his wittering Nana, who often visits armed with a crucifix.

Ìý

Add to the criminal mix the facially pierced Blind Gaz, a grubby kids creche where hepatitis is spread by a Fimble and a visiting officer who thinks the vending machine running out of Crunchie bars is a code red situation and that's Smalltime.

Ìý

Smalltime stars John Henshaw (Early Doors), Steve Edge (Phoenix Nights) and Naomi Radcliffe (Coronation Street).

Comedy Shuffle With Rob Rouse

Ìý

Rob Rouse hosts a new talent showcase highlighting a whole generation of comic performers, writers, animators and mischief-makers for Â鶹ԼÅÄ Three.

Ìý

Each week, a special guest from the world of comedy takes viewers on a trip where anything goes – so long as it's funny. There is live comedy in front of a studio audience, as well as filmed material including sketches, stand-up, animation and musical comedy from hot names on the circuit and brand-new discoveries from the web.

Ìý

Â鶹ԼÅÄ Three has its first broadband-only comedy commission in which a new comedy act, The Cowards, take over the Â鶹ԼÅÄ Three website. The Cowards is a hyper-real sketch show, on the edge of absurdity, which exposes the tiny mysteries of comtemporary social etiquette.

Ideal

Ìý

Ideal is back for a third series, starring Johnny Vegas as the hapless, small-time dope dealer Moz, trying to stay one step ahead of the law, despite his everyday catalogue of murder, mayhem and madness.

Ìý

His long-suffering girlfriend, Nicki (Nicola Reynolds), has moved back in – bringing baby Sanjeev with her – determined to give their relationship one last shot. This means that Moz has to juggle his busy "career" with the demands of being a new dad and his natural inclination to do as little as possible.

Ìý

This new series of Ideal features a host of new characters, as well as a welcome return to, amongst others, Moz's neighbour Judith (Joanna Neary), his best friend the police constable (Tom Goodman-Hill) and regular visitor Brian (Graham Duff).

Man Stroke Woman

Ìý

Ash Atalla's (The Office, The IT Crowd) sketch show, Man Stroke Woman, returns for a second series with an array of new characters that look set to stretch the realms of the absurd.

Ìý

As well as revisiting some favourite characters, the series features new sketches set in some more formal surroundings, including a headmaster's study and Crown courtroom, and enters the high-pressure worlds of restaurant chefs and cabaret club performers.

Ìý

All the original cast members are back for more: Nick Frost (Spaced, Shaun Of The Dead), Amanda Abbington (The Robinsons), Daisy Haggard (Green Wing), Meredith MacNeill (Festival, Confetti), Ben Crompton (Ideal) and Nick Burns (Absolute Power, Nathan Barley).
