Biographies


Jed Mercurio – writer/producer

Ìý

Jed Mercurio trained at the University of Birmingham Medical School, qualifying as a doctor in 1991. While still a medical student, he joined the Royal Air Force with the intention of becoming a physician-pilot. He received extensive flying training but resigned his commission to pursue a career as a hospital doctor, working in various hospitals in the West Midlands.

Jed became a full-time writer following the success of his first television medical drama - the controversial, ground-breaking Cardiac Arrest (written under the pseudonym John MacUre) – which he created after replying to an advertisement placed in the British Medical Journal.

Ìý

He scripted and directed ITV comedy-drama The Grimleys before writing his first novel, Bodies, which was chosen by the Guardian as one of the five best debuts of 2002. He adapted the novel for the Â鶹ԼÅÄ, winning the Royal Television Society Award for Best Drama Series of 2005. Jed's next novel, Ascent, will be published in March.

Max Beesley is Rob Lake

Ìý

Max trained at the Guildhall School of Music and in New York. He switched from being a successful session musician and occasional model in his twenties, and got his first big break with The History Of Tom Jones, A Foundling.

Ìý

He went on to star in various films, before deciding to concentrate on his television career. Since then he has starred in several television shows including Bodies, Fields Of Gold and Hotel Babylon. Other television credits include Hustle, Shameless and Bloodlines.

Film credits include Her Name Is Carla, The Porter, Torque, Red Roses And Petrol, The Emperor's Wife, Anita And Me, Hotel, Glitter, Take My Life Please, It Was An Accident, The Last Minute, Five Seconds To Spare and The Match.

Ìý

Theatre includes Doctor Faustus at the Manchester Royal Exchange.

Ìý

Max has extensive music experience providing percussion, keyboards and backing vocals for Style Council, Paul Weller, Brand New Heavies, Jamiroqui, Incognito, Mica Paris, Earth Wind and Fire, George Michael, Take That and Chake Khan.

He was also seen playing keyboards on the concert video Robbie Williams Live At Knebworth.

Patrick Baladi is Roger Hurley

Ìý

Patrick Baladi is best known to television audiences for Bodies and also for his portrayal of Neil Godwin in the Â鶹ԼÅÄ hit comedy series The Office. He appeared in the second and the final series of the award-winning show as well as in two subsequent Christmas specials.

Most recently seen starring as the Sheriff of Nottingham in Â鶹ԼÅÄ One's Robin Hood, Keith Allen is an experienced actor, director and presenter.

His acting credits include Bodies, Viva Blackpool and the cult movies Shallow Grave and Trainspotting.

Ìý

In 1998 he joined forces with Blur's Alex James and artist Damien Hirst to form the group Fat Les, who released alternative World Cup football anthem Vindaloo.

She played one of the lead roles in the Channel 4 comedy series Teachers for four seasons, has starred in Bodies and in ITV's Poirot adaptation Evil Under The Sun.

She guest starred twice in The Bill and in the popular detective drama A Touch Of Frost.

Neve McIntosh trained at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama.

One of her first professional engagements was in The Trick Is To Keep Breathing for Michael Boyd at the Tron Theatre.

She has worked for Michael Grandage at the Crucible Theatre playing Donna Elvira in Don Juan and Melinda in The Recruiting Officer with Corin Redgrave which opened in the new Lichfield Theatre.

Neve's first production with the RSC was in Victoria directed by Ian Brown at the Pit in the Barbican followed by Great Expectations.

Her television work has been extensive including the series Psychos.

Neve went on to play Fuschia in Â鶹ԼÅÄ Two's adaptation of Gormenghast opposite Jonathan Rhys Myers, followed by the Â鶹ԼÅÄ's production of The Hound Of The Baskervilles in which she played Miss Stapleton opposite Richard Roxborough.

Ìý

Neve played the title role in Lady Auderley's Secret for Warner Sisters and for La Plante productions she played Carla opposite Charles Dance in Trial And Retribution.

She has starred in three series of Bodies.

Ìý

Her latest film role was Barbara in One Last Chance with Jamie Sives and Kevin McKidd.
