Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Parliament to give the full picture
|
Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Parliament will be available in full screen format on Freeview from 13 November 2006.
Μύ
Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Parliament will migrate from its current quarter-video screen offering in time for the State Opening of Parliament on 15 November.
Μύ
Peter Knowles, Controller of Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Parliament, said: "No other parliamentary channel in the world matches what Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Parliament now offers: round the clock broadcasting of Parliament, by digital terrestrial, cable, satellite and the web.
Μύ
"For the first time, the full proceedings of Parliament can be seen on terrestrial television, broadcast as a normal TV channel."
Μύ
Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Parliament reaches between three quarters of a million and a million viewers every month.
Μύ
The change to full screen transmission on this fast growing platform will give many more people the incentive to watch the proceedings from Westminster, Edinburgh and Cardiff.
Μύ
As well as unedited coverage of the Commons and Lords, the channel also shows the most important committee hearings and has regular programmes examining the work of Westminster and the European Parliament.
Μύ
The full screen Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Parliament offering will be accompanied by a Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔi digital interactive service.
Μύ
Subtitles will become available in the same form as on other TV channels on Freeview/DTT.
Μύ
This announcement is in addition to the notification (made on 16 October) regarding the increase in the use of subtitles on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Parliament across digital cable, satellite and terrestrial platforms Μύ
