Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Parliament expands subtitling

The Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ today announced an expansion of its subtitling operation for Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Parliament from the current 450 hours of output per year to 810 hours.

This will enable the channel to offer the most important of the events in Parliament in a subtitled version.

Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Parliament is the first parliamentary channel in the world to offer access services for the hard of hearing.

Innovative live subtitling technology is already in use to give a constant on-screen subtitling service for the key programme The Record, and for the first two hours of the Commons business.

The move follows representations to the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ by parliamentarians and the RNID.

The channel is broadcast on Freeview, satellite and cable.

The subtitling service is used both by viewers with hearing difficulties and in workplaces where there is monitoring of the work of Parliament.
