Biography - Armando Iannucci


Scottish-born Armando Iannucci is a comic writer, performer, director and producer.

Μύ

He originally worked for Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio 1 as a producer on shows such as the Mary Whitehouse Experience in the Eighties, before venturing onto the other side of the glass to present.

Μύ

He was introduced to the world of radio whilst working at Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Scotland, and went on to produce Girls Will Be Girls, On The Hour and Knowing Me, Knowing You.

He is now a regular panellist on the News Qquiz and the 99p Challenge, as well as presenting a number of talks on classical music for Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio 3.

His own topical show, Armando Iannucci's Charm Offensive, starts on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio 4 on Tuesday 10 May.

For television, Armando wrote and produced Knowing Me, Knowing You and The Day Today; he also added directing to his credits on I'm Alan Partridge.

He performed in the Friday and Saturday Night Armistice Shows, as well as the Stupid Version last year and the Armando Iannucci shows.

He wrote and directed one of nine short films in Tube Tales called Mouth.

Armando has won two Sony Radio Awards and three British Comedy Awards, one of which was a special award for his contribution to television comedy.

He and Chris Morris were jointly awarded a 1992 Writers Guild award for On the Hour.
