Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio has maintained 54 per cent of the UK Radio market, compared to Commercial Radio's 44% according to figures released today by RAJAR (Radio Joint Audience Research).

The figures which cover the period 28 March to 26 June 2005, compared with last quarter's 54.2% and last year's 53.1%, show the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ's share to be remarkably robust.

Reach is also strong at 32.89 million - the second highest since RAJAR measurement started - compared with Commercial Radio's 31.20 million, and up on the quarter (32.54m) and the year (32.40m).

Radio 1 has maintained its steady growth with a reach of 10.24 million, the highest for two years, up on the quarter (9.96m) and up half a million on the year (9.72m).

The station's share is its best in four years at 9.2% compared with 8.4% last quarter and 8.3% last year.

When listeners aged 4+ are included reach rises to 12.45 million (12.08m last quarter and 11.53m last year). Share rises to 9.4% (8.7% last quarter, 8.5% last year).

Radio 2 remains the nation's biggest and most-listened to station with a reach of 13.27 million, compared with last quarter's 13.33m and last year's record 13.43m.

The Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ's Local and National Radio is broadly stable with a small fall in weekly reach at 10.08 million (10.19m last quarter and 10.20m last year). Share is also steady at 10.9% (10.8% last quarter, 10.9% last year).

The Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ's digital services have shown more mixed results following last quarter which saw Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ 7, 6 Music and 1Xtra achieving record reach.
