Kidnapped

The Adventures of Robert Louis Stevenson

Romantic adventure on the high seas, defying his parents to follow his dreams and intrigue and danger in the midst of a civil war on a paradise island - the real life escapades of author Robert Louis Stevenson rival those of his famous fictional characters.

Μύ

Robert Louis Stevenson is the creator of Kidnapped - the new CΒι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ drama - as well as the classics The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde and Treasure Island.

Μύ

Now a new Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ drama-documentary details the story of the writer, who battled against tuberculosis throughout his life, to create his renowned fantastic works which have gone on to become such iconic stories, celebrated on television and film.

Μύ

Ewen Bremner, of Trainspotting fame, plays the author in drama reconstructions, which together with excerpts from Stevenson's letters and family albums depict his adventures and their influence on his groundbreaking novels.

Μύ

Bremner, who has an uncanny resemblance to Stevenson, says:

Μύ

"Robert Louis Stevenson had a real lust for life. Despite being on the edge of survival with his health - he was read the last rites several times - he had a real appetite for discovering all kinds of corners of life."

Μύ

The Adventures of Robert Louis Stevenson, Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ ONE, is produced by Andrew Thompson and executive produced by Richard Downes for Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Scotland.
