Jane Bailey

Jane was born in Belfast. Self-imposed exile to the seaside provided inspiration for some of the poetry on this site. She reads regularly at the Arcadia Cafe, North Street Arcade, Belfast.

Garden Pees by Jane Bailey

Joe does a sweet pee
On the acid- loving palm,
Jim takes a leek.
With gravity, John adds,
specifically, urea, uric acid
And nitrogen to Earth's water table.
Jess voids where no-one can see her,
tracing yellow swirls on concrete.
Algae laughs and splashes.
The cat, Jingo, concentrates and slashes.
