Comment: Thank you Peter for a beautiful memory. What a catch that must have been! I have great memories of Culdaff myself. It's amazing the number of people who heard your story - both people who witnessed the great catch and people who just thought it was a great story. By the way, I think Anne is correct about McGuiness' pub. Thanks again Peter. Oh, you forgot to tell everybody about the OG you scored when playing for Culdaff against Gleneely Colts in 1969!

Comment: Peter great story. It certainly brings back old memories of beautiful Culdaff in the sixties. I believe the pub in the photograph to be McGrory's with Martin Devlin your great Dad Joe Devlin, Charlie Farren and Billy Conaghan holding up the bar, lovely picture.

Delighted to hear your story. Unfortunately I wasnt in Culdaff that year, I was over with Aunty Winnie in Newcastle (tethered to the shoe shop). I think the person in that photo is Billy Conaghan not Rory. However I loved the endless days on the beaches in Culdaff and cycling to Bunagee on Dad's "high nellies" old black bikes. Thank you very much for bringing all those memories back Peter.

Comment: Can i thank you for your story this morning it brought me right back to sunny carefree days in Culdaff many years ago. We too packed the car and left derry every Sunday for that secret little gem in Donegal. Although a bit younger than you i do remember the people in the photograph in the pub and if i may be so bold as to say is there a possibility that that pub was McGuinness' and not McGrory's! Good old Charlie Farren and is that Rory Conaghan? i remember as a child he hosted a birthday party in that same pub for his daughter Deirdre! Rest his soul. Im the same age as your brother Eamon perhaps a little younger infact we lived not too far from u in derry also. My family name was McMonagle. To close it was lovely to hear somebody reliving old childhood memories thankyou again Peter.
