Adele will reschedule the six gigs she has had to postpone

Adele is set to resume her UK tour after postponing six gigs due to a severe chest infection.

The singer's run of shows were scheduled to start in Plymouth on 4 September but had to be pulled.

Tonight's gig at Leicester's De Montford Hall will now be her first return gig.

A statement on Adele's official website confirmed the affected gigs will be rescheduled at "the earliest opportunity".

Pulled gigs

The shows postponed were in Plymouth, Bournemouth, Blackpool, Cardiff and Wolverhampton.

After tonight's gig the tour will continue on to Newcastle, Manchester, London, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Adele made a brief appearance at last week's Mercury Prize ceremony where her album 21 was nominated.

Writing on her blog she apologised to fans: "I don't sound like myself either, because I'm all bunged up and croaky.

"I'd rather not do a show, then not do a good one for you."

After the conclusion of this series of concerts she'll then head to the US for a tour which begins in Atlantic City on 7 October.
