Tory Eurosceptic Sir Christopher Chope says that voting to request an extension to Brexit talks would be an "act of national humiliation".

However he adds "there is a case" for a short extension, if Theresa May were removed as prime minister.

The government's motion, he says, is a "gross betrayal".

In response to an intervention, he says that he would "seriously consider" voting for a motion of no confidence in the government tabled by Labour.

The Vienna Convention is the treaty that lays down the rules about treaties - legal agreements between countries.

Article 62 of the treaty says that if there has been "a fundamental change of circumstances" following the conclusion of a treaty "which was not foreseen by the parties", then the countries involved would be allowed to withdraw from the treaty.

The prime minister has "no authority" and has "lost all control", says Ian Blackford - the SNP Westminster leader.

"The only way out of the disaster is to put the issue back to the people," he says.

Tory MP George Freeman is supporting the call for MPs to be given indicative votes.

He tells the Â鶹ԼÅÄ: "There is a majority in this house for a Brexit deal. It's just not for the prime minister's deal.

"Something's got to give here.... Somehow we have got to find a way to find that cross-party deal."

The Mid Norfolk MP adds: "The public expect us to find a Brexit deal and that's why I am supporting the indicative votes."

But he acknowledges indicative votes would not be needed if Theresa May's deal was accepted next week, saying it would be "great" as that would mean Brexit was secured.

Work and Pensions Secretary Amber Rudd explains her reasons for abstaining from last night's vote on a no-deal Brexit.

In a letter to her constituents in Hastings and Rye, she says she will vote for a third time in support of Mrs May's deal.

"I continue to support the PM in delivering an agreement," she says.

The Labour MP Dr Rosena Allin-Khan - who supports the People's Vote campaign - says she won't vote for an amendment calling for another referendum this evening.

Labour's Wes Streeting tells Keir Starmer there is "a considerable degree of discomfort" among Labour MPs because of the lack of "a uniform position" on having another referendum on Brexit.

He asks Sir Keir to confirm whether he will "wholeheartedly" support the proposal from Labour MPs Peter Kyle and Phil Wilson.

Under their plan MPs would back Mrs May's deal with the condition that it is then put to a confirmatory public vote.
