Police are working to identify a man's body which was pulled from the River Severn in Worcester this afternoon. 

Emergency services were called to the water near the Holt Fleet Bridge in Holt Heath just after midday. 

West Midlands Ambulance Service says the man was retrieved from the river, but nothing could be done to save him.

"Legal complications" are being blamed for the failure of a bid to keep the paddling pool open in Riverside North Park, Bewdley.

Wyre Forest District Council, the Friends of Riverside North Park and Bewdley Town Council had been trying to reach an agreement which would have seen the pool transfered to the local community.  

All three organisations have promised to continue to work together to bring about alternative features and improvements at the riverside park.

The Severn Valley Railway has got its three-day Steam Gala under way today, with a number of guest locomotives visiting.

As well as all the usual activity, there will be goods trains and brake vans running up and down the tracks and up to 10 different locomotives in action.

Herefordshire jockey Richard Johnson recorded his second win of the Cheltenham Festival earlier.

Defi Du Seuil looked imperious on his way to success in the Triumph Hurdle.

"He's a horse who has improved every time," Johnson told Â鶹ԼÅÄ Radio 5 Live. 

"In his first run at Ffos Las, I'd have never thought he would become what he is today.

"He has done everything so well and this is one to look out for in the future."

A body's been pulled out of the River Severn at Holt Fleet in Worcester.

Emergency services were initially called at around midday after reports of a person falling in.

The body has not yet been formally identified but it's believed to be a man.
