Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ

Sir Hugh Carleton Greene

Director-General of the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ from 1960-1969, he is widely acknowledged as a moderniser of the Corporation.

Sir Hugh Green's final role in the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ was as Director General, reaching this position in January 1960. The role of the 'DG' is tough yet hugely rewarding, and under Greene's leadership the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ fundamentally changed.

Arguably, through his reforms, the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ became much closer to its audience than in previous years. He recorded his memories for the Collection in 1982.
