Grey mouldGrey mould
Plants affected: Greenhouse plants.

Symptoms: Fluffy grey patches on dead or dying leaves, flowers and fruits, such as strawberries. In dull, damp weather, small, round translucent spots appear on tomatoes.

Prevention/Control: Common in winter in humid greenhouses, so ventilate to ensure good air circulation. Remove affected leaves. Spray with a suitable fungicide, such as one containing carbendazim.
Brown rot on pearBrown rot
Plants affected: Fruit including plums, apples, pears and crab apples.

Symptoms: The whole fruit rapidly turns brown with concentric rings of raised white spots.
Prevention/Control: Pick off infected fruits and destroy. They must be burned or put in the dustbin. Never put diseased plants in the compost heap because this may spread disease.
Coral spot acer treeCoral spot
