Ric Young

The Transporter

Interviewed by Alec Cawthorne

Martial arts king Ric Young, last seen in "Kiss of the Dragon", fights his way back on to our screens in "The Transporter".

How physically demanding was this film to make?

It was a lot of hard work. We were working on the French Riviera and some of the areas were very beautiful but also very hard to get to. And it was very cold.

Tell us about your character, Mr Kwai...

This guy is a multi-millionaire. He's a very legit French citizen and an important man in town. Very few people know that he has this deal going on with the Chinese about immigrants. He sees himself as helping all these poor people come to France and work.

What was it like working with Jason Statham?

Jason was incredible. He's very athletic and he had no problem whatsoever with the action sequences. I remember scenes where I was chasing him and he was like a spider going up the rocks. I looked up at him and I said "No, I'm not going too far up. I'll just shoot my gun at him from halfway!".
