Vive La Swansea
Exceptional young violinist Chloë Hanslip returns to the Orchestra alongside conductor Xian Zhang, as we take a musical journey through France, with a hint of Spanish influence.
Ravel’s DZé sets the scene perfectly, with its stirring rhythms and atmospheric melody. Chloë will take to the platform for Edouard Lalo’s Symphonie Espagnole and we finish with Saint-Saëns Symphony No 3. On the composition of his third symphony Saint-Saëns proclaimed “what I have here accomplished, I will never achieve again”, anticipating his final journey into the symphonic form, and one which encapsulated all that he was as a musician, most notably with his addition of the organ to composition.
