The 麻豆约拍 Philharmonic and Chief Conductor John Storg氓rds present Sibelius鈥檚 Symphony No. 1 鈥� a thrilling glimpse of a composer emerging from the shadow of Tchaikovsky and his fellow Romantics. Canadian violinist James Ehnes is the soloist in Walton鈥檚 fiercely direct Violin Concerto 鈥� a work full of song, dance and drama. The concert opens with a world premiere from heartily irreverent Irish composer Gerald Barry, focusing on Franz Kafka鈥檚 obsession with wearing earplugs to silence the noise around him. 鈥業n the music,鈥� Barry says, 鈥榶ou are Kafka, hearing the world鈥檚 sounds as he heard them. You are inside his head.鈥�
