Illumination: Afternoon Concert
Â鶹ԼÅÄ NOW performs two premieres in a concert full of light and power, under the baton of Geoffrey Paterson.
Paul Mealor’s Symphony No. 3 ‘Illumination’, inspired by extracts from Dante’s Paradiso, receives its world premiere, alongside Jonathan Dove’s Sunshine, in its UK premiere. The sun-themed programme is completed by Mathias’ Helios, Per Nørgård’s Iris, and Sibelius’ Night Ride and Sunrise.
“Grace abounded and allowed me to dare
to fix my gaze upon the Eternal Light,
so deep, my vision was consumed in it!â€
“In the deep and bright essence of that exalted Light,
I beheld and love which moves the sun.â€
