Worlds tend to collide around Clean Bandit, they’re that kind of a group. This quartet of natural collaborators are responsible for colliding deep house production with classical music (most notably the work of Mozart and Shostakovich). They’re also the Oxbridge undergraduates (Jack Patterson, Grace Chatto, and Milan Neil Amin-Smith all met while at Jesus College Cambridge) whose music got them into the meritocracy of the Top 40, and the instrumentalists with the well-stocked black book of guest vocalists, including Rae Morris, Sharna Bass, Stylo G and Jess Glynne—who is also appearing at this year’s Big Weekend.
And who could forget the astonishing collaboration last September between the Bandit and the Â鶹ԼÅÄ Philharmonic? That was a night to remember, as was their tent-raising turn on the In New Music We Trust stage at last year’s Big Weekend in Glasgow. And now they’re officially Grammy winners—Rather Be won Best Dance Recording earlier this year—there are unlimited new horizons to explore, and no end of fresh collaborations to try out.
