Handel's Messiah re-tells the prophecies of Christ's coming, his birth in the Bethlehem stable, his death and resurrection, and, finally, the Day of Judgement with such power, passion and expressive warmth that its music has become amongst the best-loved of all time.
Come and sing excerpts from Handel's Messiah at a free workshop led by David Hill, with the Â鶹ԼÅÄ Singers and St James's Baroque.
As only a limited number of scores will be available at the workshop, we recommend that participants bring their own copy of Handel's Messiah if possible.
The day will include the following music from Handel's Messiah:
No 4 'And the glory of the Lord'
No 7 'And he shall purify'
No 12 'For unto us a child is born'
No 21 'His Yoke is easy, and his burthen is light'
No 24 'Surely he hath borne our griefs'
No 25 ‘And with his stripes we are healed'
No 26 ‘All we like sheep have gone astray'
No 37 'The Lord gave the word'
No 41 'Let us break their bonds asunder'
No 44 'Hallelujah'
No 46 'Since by man came death'
No 53 'Worthy is the lamb that was slain'
