Bandicoot was conceived by Billy Stillman and Rhys Underdown in 2013. It began within sight of the sea on the coast of Swansea, South Wales, with a saxophone, a drum kit, a love of Little Richard and Crash Bandicoot. Since then, the band has changed musical styles as many times as it has band members, until guitarist Tom Emlyn and bassist Kieran Doe joined in 2018 and helped develop its current identity and musical direction. The last two years has seen the band stamp its own mark onto the Welsh music scene, with raucous live shows and music that draws on post-punk, krautrock, and early 70s rock 'n' roll influences, in a bilingual mixture of Welsh and English.
