Concert Information
Join us for our 2023-24 season launch as Chief Conductor John Storg氓rds sets the stage with Jan谩膷ek鈥檚 gargantuan Sinfonietta.
Brimming with brass and bold yet bridled melodies, its galvanising energy plays foil to the emotional outpourings of Tchaikovsky鈥檚 swan song, his Sixth Symphony. Premiered only days before the composer鈥檚 death, the Symphony remains an enigma 鈥 its only truly agreeable mark, its sheer passion. Separating both of these titanic works, Dame Sarah Connolly joins us for an exploration of some of history鈥檚 less well-trodden territory in a collection of Alma Mahler鈥檚 orchestrated songs.
