Throughout the Â鶹ԼÅÄ SO’s Total Immersion Percussion day the Barbican FreeStage will be buzzing with percussion music from a variety of ensembles.
From 11:30am orchestral percussion ensembles from music hubs across London will take part in open masterclasses led by two of the Â鶹ԼÅÄ Symphony Orchestra's percussionists, Alex Neal and Fiona Ritchie. They will also perform in the Barbican Foyer before the evening concert.
Later in the day student ensembles from Guildhall and the Royal College of Music will be popping up to perform an eclectic mix of percussion music which will demonstrate how vast and flexible the percussion section really is.
Pop-up Performance Schedule:
11.00 - 13.30: Masterclass and performance of an interactive percussion piece (masterclass is closed to the public but members of the public are welcome to watch it take place).
15.45 - 16.15: Pop-up performance 1 by members of the Guidhall School of Music and Drama Percussion Group.
16.45 - 17.00: Pop-up performance 2 by members of the Guidhall School of Music and Drama Percussion Group.
17.15 - 17.30: Pop-up performance 1 by Royal College of Music Percussion Students.
17.45 - 18.00: Pop-up performance 1 by Royal College of Music Percussion Students.
19.00 - 19.10: Performance of an interactive percussion piece.
