About This Event
Romance and tragedy collide in Julian Joseph’s reworking of the ancient legend of Tristan and Isolde.
This oratorio for today draws inspiration from the worlds of jazz and classical music creating a contemporary setting for this heart-breaking tale. This new libretto sets the historic tale in modern day London, exploring themes such as identity, discovery and multiculturalism.
In this world premiere and concert performance, composer and pianist Joseph brings together his own choice of singers, including Carleen Anderson, Ken Papenfus, Christine Tobin and Cleveland Watkiss, and jazz soloists to collaborate on this significant new work with the Â鶹ԼÅÄ Concert Orchestra and Â鶹ԼÅÄ Singers.
Join the Julian Joseph Jazz Academy in the foyer of the Queen Elizabeth Hall after the concert for a free jazz performance.
Approximate running time: 10-11pm.
