Concert Information
The Â鶹ԼÅÄ Concert Orchestra teams up with conductor Alice Farnham and Tom Service, presenter of Â鶹ԼÅÄ Radio 3’s The Listening Service, to explore the multi-faceted role of an orchestra in the 21st century.
Audience members help to recreate the lively spirit of the first performance of Mozart’s Symphony No. 31 – concert halls were much noisier environments in the 19th century! Tom Service leads the Â鶹ԼÅÄ Concert Orchestra through orchestral experimentation of past eras to some of the most recognisable and emotive pieces of film music from Harry Potter, Jaws and Psycho. Exploring the function of an orchestra includes ceremonial purposes, practical uses in the pit, as well as some theme tunes and symbols of national unity thrown in along the way.
This concert’s colourful variety shows that the orchestral line-up is still evolving and its role ever changing!
