The St John Passion is an extravagant and emotionally charged work, often using the chorus chorales to drive the dialogue forward. It is modestly and intimately scored but with an expressive immediacy and some of the most exquisite solo flute and oboe writing of the baroque era.
To conduct this performance, alongside a stellar line up of soloists, we welcome the award winning interpreter of Bach’s work, John Butt.
