About this event

This performance is presented by the Â鶹ԼÅÄ Symphony Orchestra and Opera Rara.

Follow the fortunes of the passionate Italian painter Salvini, who becomes infatuated with his patron’s fiancée Nelly in Bellini’s rarely performed first opera. Though written while Bellini was still a student, the indulgent, ardent and lyrical melodies are typical of the great composer. Tenor Enea Scala and ‘powerhouse mezzo soprano’ (New York Times) Daniela Barcellona lead an all-star cast in a tale of friendship, love and jealousy, conducted here by Italian specialist Daniele Rustioni.

Concert staging. Sung in Italian with English surtitles.

Please note start-time.

In a change to the previously advertised billing, Leah-Marian Jones replaces Patricia Bardon in the role of Madame Rivers, Opera Rara Chorus replace the Â鶹ԼÅÄ Singers, Simone Alberghini replaces Nicola Alaimo in the role of Lord Adelson, and Enea Scala replaces Lawrence Brownlee in the role of Salvini.
