About This Event

Magnetite – from Professor of Composition at the RNCM, Emily Howard – was written for 2008's European Capital of Culture in her hometown of Liverpool. Taking its title from the oldest known magnetic substance, Howard describes her piece as "a journey deep inside one of these crystals".

Julian Bliss is today’s soloist for Edward Cowie’s third clarinet concerto - Ruskin’s Dreams – Coniston and we also hear Richard Rodney Bennett’s Partita – lively, ear-tickling outdoor music with a spring in its step.
