Some bands get together to make music that sounds like their own record collections, other bands get together to make the music they would like to listen to, if only someone would bother to make it. Alt-J fall squarely into the latter camp, being the kind of musicians who spend as much time plotting how their music could work, and coming up with strategies to achieve their goals as they do jamming out fat riffs.

We're now two albums into their career, the J having made a big splash with their debut, An Awesome Wave, which won them the Mercury Prize and album of the year at the Ivor Novello Awards. This is their second Glastonbury, having appeared on the Other Stage in 2013, the same year they played at Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Derry/Londonderry. They recently headlined the In New Music We Trust stage at this year’s Big Weekend, bringing with them the songs from their second album This Is All Yours.
