Dance Music's Cover Boy

It’s not like the mask has slipped completely, but we now know a lot more about London producer SBTRKT than we did when he first emerged - Burial-like - in 2009. For starters, he’s called Aaron Jerome and, over time, he’s become more and more comfortable talking about his music, as indeed he did with Annie Mac before an excellent 2012 Live Lounge and again with Zane Lowe around the time he released his 2014 second album, Wonder Where We Land. For that album, he pulled in an impressive guestlist of singers and MCs - long-time collaborator Sampha, Raury, Jessie Ware, Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig and A$AP Ferg - all of whom gave superb voice to his evocative, otherworldly productions.

Aside from having two celebrated albums under his belt, SBTRKT is an accomplished DJ, performer (he usually plays live with Sampha) and remixer, who’s released edits of tracks by M.I.A., Radiohead, Mark Ronson and Underworld. A favourite of Lauren Laverne’s, he played an excellent session on her 6 Music show last December and arrives at his first Glastonbury recognised as one of the UK’s most forward-thinking electronic musicians.
