Event Information

Franklin Schaffner’s startlingly original 1968 sci-fi classic is brought vividly to the concert stage in this world premiere of the complete film, with live orchestral score performed by the Â鶹ԼÅÄ Concert Orchestra.

One of the most important and influential film scores ever written, Jerry Goldsmith’s ground-breaking music challenges, charms and excites in equal measure – a thrilling, Oscar-nominated tour-de-force for orchestra.

Charlton Heston stars as an astronaut who crash-lands on an unknown planet where apes rule and humans are enslaved. Roddy McDowell and Kim Hunter co-star as the intelligent apes, brought to life on screen by the Oscar-winning talents of make-up artist John Chambers.

Presented by Southbank Centre in association with Orchid Media.
