Principal Guest Conductor John Storgards is joined by acclaimed pianist Martin Roscoe for a programme that includes Beethoven's Third Piano Concerto. The Third is said to have been directly influenced by Mozart's Piano Concerto No.24. Martin Roscoe will guide us through the links of this elegant work.
The concert opens with a performance of Sibelius's 'Finlandia', a symphonic poem written by the composer in 1899 as a protest against increasing censorship in his homeland.
Closing the concert will be Tchaikovsky's Symphony No.5: 'With desire and passion', Tchaikovsky wrote on the score of this piece. It's one of the most popular symphonies ever composer. John Storgards will bring out all its power and those unforgettable tunes.
