Event Information

Join the Nottinghamshire Family Orchestra and play your part in Soundstage, Nottingham’s first film music festival. Led by composer Richard Taylor and assisted by his team of Â鶹ԼÅÄ Philharmonic players, you’ll create a new score to Georges Meliès’s pioneering silent film, The Voyage to the Moon, to be performed by the orchestra at Broadway on 25 March.

The project begins with us creating the piece at Nottingham Trent University Music Centre on Saturday 18 March (09.30am arrival to start 10am- 4pm) and then rehearsing and performing it in public as a live soundtrack to the film in Screen 1 at Broadway cinema on Saturday 25 March. The rehearsal session will run from 10am with the performance at 1.30pm.

It’s going to be an amazing project, the first of its kind in the UK, and we’d love it if you can join us for it. The Family Orchestra is FREE to join and open to all, provided that you come with another member of your family. And if you don’t play a musical instrument you can join our Family Choir.
