Concert Information
This concert will be broadcast live on Â鶹ԼÅÄ Radio 3.
On 10th June 1916, the bloodiest and battle in modern times began. Later to be called ‘The Battle of the Somme’, the first day alone accounted for 60,000 soldiers and is still the greatest loss of life in British military history.
On the 100th anniversary of the start of The Battle of the Somme, the Â鶹ԼÅÄ Singers offer a programme of repertoire to commemorate this devastating battle and the First World War. With music from English, French and German composers of the time, the concert will include reflective readings and end with English composer David Bednall’s Three Songs of Remembrance.
Admission is on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note that as not everyone who asks for tickets uses them, to make sure we have a full house we send out more tickets than there are places. We do our best to get the numbers right, but unfortunately we occasionally have to disappoint people so please arrive early.
