Stephen Fry and Mark Carwardine's search for endangered animals

Last Chance To See

"My role, and one for which I was entirely qualified, was to be an extremely ignorant non-zoologist to whom everything that happened would come as a complete surprise."

Douglas Adams teamed up with Mark Carwardine for Last Chance to See. It was a radio series, and then a book, documenting their travels to find and photograph some of the most endangered animals on the planet.

The pair travelled worldwide, hunting for Kakapos (flightless parrots that look like over-cooked brussel sprouts), Aye Ayes (nocturnal Lemurs that look a bit threadbare) and other strange creatures on the brink of extinction.

Douglas often stated it was his favourite of his books. He had an abiding passion for zoology, and supported many initiatives to protect endangered species.
