The first 'stuck in the ship' episode of season four didn't disappoint and it seems Farscape may finally now be getting back on track.
It makes a change for Crichton and co to fight something without using their pulse pistols and the different methods they used made for great viewing. Particularly the scene in the scrubber, which had me wondering if Chiana was going to make it or not.
Unlike previous shipboard episodes, Natural Election didn't have such a claustrophobic feel, possibly because the crew were spread throughout Moya. This was helped along by Aeryn telling Chiana about the pregnancy and the news slowly filtering through the crew.
It's nice to see D'Argo gaining the respect he has wanted for so long, and although he may not have been the obvious choice he was, in my opinion, the right choice for Captain.
The only faults of the episode were the continued Crichton and Aeryn plot arc, which gets more complex and less tolerable by the week and the difficulty the writers seem to have of finding anything intersting for Sikozu and Granny to do.

The previous episodes have been characterised by moments of brilliance in an unsteady and messy plot. Here, I felt it was all pulled together. Perhaps because it all took place on Moya, perhaps because Aeryn and Crichton's relationship was finally confronted, but the episode felt like a complete story, rather than part of a plot that had to be pushed forward.
Only a few things irritated me: Sizoku's bra - it's totally impractical and diminishes her importance as an intelligent and adult character. John recieving no votes for Captain - although I am glad D'Argo won, it's silly to gloss over the possibility of John's captaincy quite so obviously.
Finally, if I hear the words 'Commander - if (insert current crisis) continues, Moya may be (gasp!) unable to recover. (dramatic pause.) She may...die.' one more time, I will scream. We've been there, and done that, way too many times.
However, it was funny, sweet, slightly insane, scary and clever. In other words, everything that Farscape should be.

It doesn’t matter that ship infestation is an old plot device, nor that the plot twist (shooting it makes it worse) has been done before, this was still an excellent episode.
The all-pervading threat to Moya gave all the characters a chance to pair off and have quiet tête-a-têtes together, building the story arc and allowing for snappy dialogue. Did everyone else cringe when Aeryn asked Chiana to keep a secret?
The producers have at last come to terms with how dumb it was to dump Zhann, recognising that the series does need a scientist character. Neatly splitting the job between two new characters, - Sikoyu and Noranti - enables plot exposition in a believable fashion. After previous great irritation at both Granny and Sputnik I’m at last coming round to agreeing that they work as part of the ensemble crew - something, alas, Jool never really did.
So Peacekeepers can store embryos, can they? I already thought we had enough JC/AS tension, but apparently not enough for the producers.
