I liked this episode. I didn't think it was overly brilliant, but I liked it.

Finally, we get to see Sikozu actually getting on with someone other than Scorpius! With her intelligence and Aeryn's experience, they made a great - and extremely quick - team, something I would like to see more of in the future.

This episode had a few unexpected twists in it. I could have sworn that the two men who took Moya's component for adaptation were going to be today's bad guys. They didn’t get that title, which surprised me. The fact we only saw them again briefly towards the end surprised me even more.

I thought Chiana's and Noranti's genetic change was a little too predictable. Even my mum figured out that they would end up doing that, and she's normally quite slow on the uptake as far as Farscape's concerned. But I did find the exchange between the two characters really quite amusing.

Oh, and one of the crew has been separated from the rest of the gang. Again. But I'm sure they'll find her again...

Not top drawer, but certainly an improvement on last week. The episode had several nice moments - particularly the way Aeryn and Sikozu started to bond in adversity. And any episode that has Aeryn back in the leather coat in an "I’m gonna kill something" mode gets my vote.

What the episode showed was that the dynamic of the programme is heavily driven by the female characters. Last week’s boys only episode was flat and unengaging. This week’s showcase for the girls was considerably more tense and enjoyable even with plot holes big enough for a leviathan and several command carriers to fly through.

How many of you would hold a serious negotiation standing up in an open area where you can be easily overlooked and shot at? Call me Mr Practical, but I would have thought the minimum requirements for a peace conference would be a room to meet in and several guards on the doors.

I was initially really disappointed in how easily Aeryn escaped. The thought that it was a piece of "with a single bound she was free" type of plotting crossed my mind until I started to pick up the clues that it wasn’t her. The final sequence where John doesn’t want to believe it isn’t really her was very well done by all concerned, and the last shots were full of genuine pathos.

There are things that Farscape does well and things that it doesn't. Bringing home the Beacon had a little of both. Firstly, the title had very little relevance to the episode, a small point but one that I think is worthy of note.

As for the episode itself, it was reasonably impressive, with the girls being given their bit of the limelight following the all-male episode of last week. The main plot involving Aeryn and Sputnik was excellent and at last it seems the Scarrans are being brought into the storylines. Claudia Black and Raelee Hill’s acting made the tension between the characters come across nicely. However, these scenes could have and probably should have been given more screen time.

Instead the unusual and in many ways down-right weird Chiana and Noranti plot line was used and re-used until there was no life in it. Not that there had been much in the first place

The ending of the episode was nicely done, especially Crichton's reaction to finding that he'd lost his love once more. This kidnap obviously sets the scene for the run-up to the end of the season and it will be interesting to see what comes next. It wasn't bad, but Farscape has done better.
