Report by Faye Claridge, web producer

The third Annual Open Exhibition at Rugby Art Gallery and Museum opened on 13 November at a really well-attended and lively private view.

The event was a great success with a creative hum of artists meeting each other and discussing their work and the exhibition.

Crowds at the private view
There were lots of new faces in the gallery this year as many artists have entered for the first time and it was obvious that they were delighted to be included in the exhibition.

The exhibition continues until Sunday 18 January 2004 and is a great way of catching up with the artistic activity in the area.

The selection process

The artwork was selected by a panel of judges including artist John Myers, gallery exhibitions officer Nikki Grange, Ken Hughes of Rugby Craft Association and members of the Borough Council’s Picture Selection Working Party.

Artist John Myers said: β€œWe had an interesting and wide range of artwork to choose from. The selected work – I hope – will ask the viewer questions about the act of looking, the process of making and the complexity of interpretation.”
