One of Sally Sheinman's Sacred Vessels
Paint is thickened, folded, blended, sprinkled and drizzled to create sumptuous paintings of food based upon the artistry of the kitchen. Inspired by contemporary chefs the artist works quickly with pre-prepared 'ingredients' completing each painting in one session.

Oxo Peugeot Design Awards 2002

Contemporary design from the finalists of this award. Exhibits include an ingenious duvet designed to gradually illuminate and wake the sleeper, a smart chair engineered to automatically adjust to uneven surfaces and cutlery designed for people with poor grip or restricted movement.

An extended exhibition of work from the Rugby Collection of 20th century and contemporary British art.

Acquired by Rugby Borough Council since 1946, the collection contains over 150 paintings, drawings and prints, including works by L S Lowry, Paul Nash and Bridget Riley.

Artist Tom Hackett has been specially commissioned to produce three installations that form the Textual Triptych: Lache pas la patate, Pulp and Object in Absentia.

All the works use text and explore the presentation of language.

Following their tradition of supporting Rugby artists, this third annual open exhibition celebrates and encourages the creative talent of Rugby.

Entries are anticipated from a diverse range of media including ceramics, painting, photography, textiles and sculpture. Works are for sale providing an ideal opportunity to purchase unique Christmas gifts.

The new programme started with an exhibition by Princess Su Su. From 26 November - 12 January, she transformed the art gallery into a magical fairy tale land with textile and text-based artworks.

On at the same time, the Crafty Tales show featured artists from the West Midlands using ceramics, textiles, jewellery and sculpture.

Etchings by Walter Sickert, Therese Lessore and Frances Richards are on show for the first time following conversation and framing.

Also on in the packed gallery was the Focus on the Rugby Collection exhibition. This showed works by Paula Rego, Humphrey Spender, Sylvia Gosse, John Napper, Ethelbert White, Norah McGuinness, Richard Gilbert and more.

Following these was the Sacred Vessels exhibition by Sally Sheinman, on 21 January - 23 March. See images from this exhibition and read about the work, by following the profile link on the left.
