Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ WM presenter Bob Brolly took his afternoon show on the road in January to launch a new feature, which will see the makeover of a garden owned by gardening personality Steve Brookes.
Steve appears on Bob's show every Wednesday to give green-fingered advice, Now, once a month, the show will come from Steve's garden in Stratford, where lucky listeners will be able to help him give it a whole new look!

Listeners to Bob's afternoon programme will be able to choose what is planted in the garden and then follow the progress of all the flowers, plants and vegetables.
We braved a cold winter's day to take a look at the garden and enjoy the launch party.
The event was centred around one of Steve's three sheds (not including the greenhouse)!
See below for more details and a whole bunch of pictures we took at the launch!

It was freezing on the day we made our maiden voyage into Steve's new garden so most of the afternoon's action took place in the shed!
Joining Bob, Fran and Steve were some listeners who had won the chance to come along with their family and friends.
They were able to ask questions about Steve's patch and their own gardens, and they offered suggestions about what could go into the garden over the coming months.
Listener Joy Coop, a very keen horticulturalist, and Steve discovered a mystery plant in the garden which they'd like help identifying.

We also had some entertainment in the shape of Madonna, who appeared in two incarnations to sing Holiday and Vogue!
Sadly, Bob's favourite - Like a Virgin - was not on the songsheet but he enjoyed Madge impersonator Fiona Ruddick's rendition very much - as did the audience in the packed shed!

ΜύThe Lion, The Witch...and The Mayor!

Also dropping in to the shed for a chat and cup of tea were Stratford mayor, Cllr Vince Seaman, and some cast members from the RSC's winter production, The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.
Cllr Seaman brought along the mayoress - a keen gardener herself - to have a look around and admire the blank canvass, as well as get tips for the garden at home!

Taking a break from their busy schedules to join in the fun were Caroline Martin and Jean-Mark Perrett from the RSC.
Caroline, who plays Lucy, and Jean-Mark, who is Edmund, talked about the show and gardening - and enjoyed a spot of Vogue-ing along with Madonna!
ΜύKeep coming back......

We'll be with Bob, Steve and Fran every month as they build up the garden so keep coming back to see how it's getting on.
Plus, if you have questions to ask of our gardening expert, send us an email at the address on the left and Steve will do his best to help.
