Week five

I have had a very eventful week in what is my fifth week here at ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ Coventry & Warwickshire. The week started with a follow-up article updating readers on the Coventry Bears U14s cricket finals in Arundel. Unfortunately for the Bears they weren’t lucky enough to progress from the group stages of the Lord’s Taverners Cup. Having said that I think that coach Karl Bowes and the team did exceptionally well to reach the play-offs and to represent Coventry in a national competition is a great achievement.

Coventry Blaze were back on the ice for the first training session of the season on Thursday. Geoff Foster and I went down to the Skydome to talk to the team about the forthcoming season. Geoff commentates on the Blaze and even hosts his own monthly ice hockey show, Face Off. I was lucky enough to be given the chance to interview two Blaze stars - seasoned forward Danny Stewart and new signing netminder Peter Hirsch.

Both players were great talkers and very relaxed, the interview was a little bit scary as they are the first professional sportsmen that I have interviewed. It went great and some of my interviews even found there way on air over the weekend, which is brilliant as there is nothing more reassuring that you’re doing well, than having your work broadcast on the ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ's airwaves!

Personally it was a great experience to interview two players such as Danny and Peter, as they are model professionals. Danny has won back-to-back titles with Blaze and newcomer Peter has played for his native Denmark at the World Championships.

I have another busy week to look forward to. I shall be visiting Coventry Crusaders' summer basketball camp at the Grace Academy at the beginning of the week while also planning ahead for my last week here at ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ Coventry & Warwickshire, before me and my fellow β€˜blastee’ Sarah head down to the capital for the Blast Reporters' Showcase!
