Sarah's Blast diary

Well hello there! Thank you for taking a peek at my diary as the Blast music reporter for Â鶹ԼÅÄ Coventry & Warwickshire.

Week eight

And so we’ve come to the end of the road! Still I can’t let go….

It has been brilliant. Better than I could ever have imagined and more fun than anyone would believe. Today is my last day and I am just finalising any outstanding work I have to complete. Also, I will be recording my part for this week's Introducing show with Martin Winch. I’m doing a bit of a mini Bygrave-Blast take over! I get to pick my top three songs I’ve heard from the local talent whilst being a music reporter and they will then be played on the show.

I’m sure it won’t seem it but these 8-weeks have absolutely flown by. It seems like only yesterday I was interviewing my first artist at Coventry’s Transport Museum. And now here I am! I feel like I have progressed and developed well, and I have certainly learnt a lot whilst being here. Being surrounded by professionals who make brilliant radio, web content and TV has been very inspirational and motivational.

I want to say a big thank you to all the artists that I met during my time being a music reporter for Â鶹ԼÅÄ Coventry and Warwickshire. Hitchcock, Corelli, Carly Ryder, Thom Kirkpatrick, Kristy Gallacher and Barricades Rise - you truly are a group of pure talent and I am sure you will all go far. Remember where you read their names first people!

The music scene in Coventry and Warwickshire has never flagged whilst I’ve been reporting on it. There are some real gems hidden in the West Midlands and I urge you all to get out and see as much of the local music as you can! Open mic nights, gigs at the Kasbah or festivals, they are all rich with talent. There is always something going on and always new music to be discovered.

The final thank you’s obviously go to everyone here at Â鶹ԼÅÄ Coventry & Warwickshire. They’ve made me feel welcome, made me laugh and allowed me to produce work for them. It has been a blast (I’d say excuse the pun but I think it is funny!), and I feel honoured to have been given this opportunity.

To my mentors Hannah Tobin and Martin Winch, you have guided me through and helped me when necessary. I’m very glad I got to work with the Â鶹ԼÅÄ Introducing host (Martin) and also the funniest person I have ever met (Hannah). Thanks again for this opportunity and I hope that you both have been happy with me being your Blast music reporter.

And so, for the final time I will say goodbye, thanks for reading and hopefully, this isn’t the last you’ve heard from me!

Tally Bye Bye! X
