Olympics 2024, men’s tennis final, 4 August 2024

Summary of complaint

We’ve received complaints from some people who were unhappy that we didn’t broadcast the men’s tennis final between Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz in full.

Our response

While we recognise this match was of great interest to sections of our audience, we instead moved our coverage away to follow strong medal chances for Team GB athletes, which were also of great interest to our predominantly UK based audience.

On Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ One, we broadcast the gymnastics women’s bars final that featured GB’s Becky Downie; the shooting final, where Amber Rutter won silver, and the gymnastics men’s vault final, where Harry Hepworth won bronze. On Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ iPlayer, we broadcast the shooting final, and when this switched to Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ One, we showed the final round of the men’s golf, where Tommy Fleetwood was on his way to winning silver.

The end of the tennis final was shown on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ iPlayer once those British medal moments had concluded.
