Summary of complaint
We received complaints from people who were unhappy with our guest line-up on the programme, and felt this demonstrated pro-Conservative bias.
Our response
Following the local elections which had taken place that week, the focus of the programme was on examining what these election results signified in terms of the forthcoming general election.Β
We interviewed Labour’s Pat McFadden and Conservative Mark Harper, as representatives of their respective frontbenches. In the weeks leading up to the elections we heard from guests from other parties, including the leaders of the Liberal Democrats and Greens.
As a former home secretary in the current government, and someone who has been a vocal critic of the prime minister and his policies, Suella Braverman was on the programme to give her views, in the light of Conservative losses, on the approach the party should now take. Ms Braverman’s perspective reflects a strand of thinking within the party, which we believe would have been of interest to our viewers.  As with all our guests, Laura scrutinised in detail points made by Ms Braverman in a fair and duly impartial manner.
We will of course be featuring guests from all the main parties from across the UK as we head towards the general election.
