This album has to be one of thee best albums to have graced the earth. It speaks to so many people, and this is why this particular album is so popular. Even to this day there are many people of all ages who still talk about The Smiths and quoting a lyric day by day.
This album is one of the msot talked about from my experience, and from a 19 year old, they still manage to speak to our generation with its emotional content and its relation to us. It's superb lyrically, you couldn't fault it for a second, and as for Johnny Marr's arrangements, they are fanastic in releasing a truly great sound which captures the sadness, humour and honesty that lies within Morrissey's lyrics. Mnay of the songs stick in ym mind, I could listen to I know It's Over all day, such a great song with so much truth and honesty, that to me is what a real pop star is all about.
People always picture Morrissey as the godfather of glum and what have you, but that guy is bloody hilarious, he knows humour and has made me laugh on a number of occasions with his lyrics. Look at Cemetary Gates for example, "There's always someone, somewhere with a big nose who knows" and "a dreaded sunny day, so we go where we're happy and I meet you at the cemetary gates." How brilliant is that? Who write lyrics like that can I ask you?
So, with all this in mind, The Queen is Dead is a fantastic album with so much to offer and so much people can relate to, that is why is still stands today as an album which has inspired the nation and also a generation.
