So Harvard Professor Richard Somer thinks Stormont should be shut and the Assembly relocated in a new building somewhere around the Titanic Quarter. He's a Prof. in Urban Design, not Politics. Which may prompt you to think, enough said.
If not I'm happy to solicit suggestions
1) For venues and designs for our new assembly
2) For alternative uses for the Stormont edifice

As our Irish Nationalist & Ulster Nationalist MLA's scratch around with what to do with the Maze, a new stadium and the Titantic, is it not blindingly obvious that we should have a "Titantic" stadium in the "Titantic Quarter"?
I actually don't think it's a completely stupid idea. Stormont is actually a watered down version of what was planned, perhaps they could dig out the original plans.
Do we really want to go down the road of Holyrood? One of the benefits of implementing devolution in Northern Ireland was that the - quite impressive - infrastructure was already in place.
What about the "Peoples Park" down at Dargan, where the old land fill site is?

Perhaps the good Harvard Professor would like to use the vast funds of his own University to fund his crackpot ideas. His idea sounds like a postgraduate project rather than a sensible contribution to the urban debate. Why is he here?

Given Northern Ireland’s critical shortage of burial space Stormont would make an ideal location for a new super cemetery catering for all creeds. Importantly, this change of use would have no adverse environmental impact as it would be a simple matter of replacing one set of stiffs with another set of stiffs.
